Centralized Bibliographies

There has been some discussion on the idea of shared bibliographies for PlanetMath. Originally, this discussion started with the suggestion that PlanetMath could raise funds by referring readers to but books from Amazon. Although the Amazon referral idea may actually not be compatible with the non-profit nature of PlanetMath, the idea of a centrally located bibliographic database on PlanetMath seems almost certain to be useful.

With a system like this, it would be easier to add references to entries, since one would only need to refer to the appropriate entries in the centralized bibliography – rather than having to retype or copy-and-paste bibliographic information whenever it is referenced. Various ideas on how to implement a centralized bibliographies for PM are under discussion here:

New Feature Requests

A suggestion about rejecting correction rejections and correction acceptances (also brought up by jac in the PM forum) was raised on the wiki, where it proved to be somewhat contentious. The wiki discussion is here:

Another request – about getting various new kinds of updates on events that take place in the PM forums – was also brought up. The idea here is to be able to have postings that match a certain keyword or other user-specified metadata sent directly to your email account, and the hope is that this would help make PM more useful to anyone who wants to avoid "information overload".
