Feature

Apparently nothing really exciting happened this week except the wiki moving to

Sorry. I guess everyone (including myself) has been on a mental vacation?

micro-feature: shared bibliographies and referrals

Marijke added some further thoughts on how to implement shared bibliographies

The HDM project could use some more help. If you write LISP, get in touch.

Discussion of this week's bulletin

I thought that last week's bulletin had some interesting articles in it - and there was an interesting discussion about the way of the asteroid, which ended up not being featured in the bulletin. Maybe this week we can do some more work on the WOA and write a better article about it.

I thought that the May Day piece was quite provocative, but still we haven't gotten any responses to any of the bulletins from non-AMers. Maybe the bulletins are helping spread awareness of the AM site, which is good. Still, I'm sad that the PM culture doesn't seem to involve making comments on provocative/political pieces like that one. Why might that be, I wonder?

Anyway - I don't mean to live in the past with these comments, mainly I just wanted to say - thanks for the articles and discussions, and I hope this week's bulletin can be at least as thrilling – to us, if not to anyone else. --jcorneli

So, um, nothing much happened this week. Anyone know why? --jcorneli Tue May 10 04:27:32 2005 UTC

Are people really busy or something? Without updates in the bulletins or the WOA or the Schedule or anywhere else, I have no idea what people are up to.

I'm currently in a somewhat foul mood, so I don't really want to go on about this, but I'm upset about my own lack of significant/tangible progress this past week (despite putting in quite a few hours of work), and as noted on the hdm's parsing system page, I feel I could use more help. The parser is coming along, slowly, but many of the improvements this week have been code cleanup things to try to facilitate some cooperation – and my own understanding of what the parser actually does. I think I'm too frustrated at this point to say anything useful, so, I'll just ask again for some updates and feedback. --jcorneli Tue May 10 04:50:43 2005 UTC

I was away this weekend. Also, it is finals period, for many people. Wouldn't take it personally =) --akrowne Tue May 10 05:50:10 UTC 2005

Don't worry, I was in a foul mood about my own work and some other (unrelated) stuff. I'm feeling better now after getting some sleep. And now, back to work. --jcorneli Tue May 10 14:02:23 2005 UTC

In my case, I am really busy with one of your favorite art forms — I am remodelling the bathroom. For the last few days, I have been spending a lot of time painting, plumbing, plastering, machining, working wood, etc., so there hasn't been much time left for Asteroid or Planet Math. I plan to finish this week, and then there will be more time. I will be able to take a good look at the parser, contribute to the bulletin, write math papers, write the essay on bottlenecks, and the like. --rspuzio 10 May 2005
